History of Our Club
The Peru Lions Club was chartered in 1945 and today its
members continue to serve their community in many ways.
In 1986, Lions Club International opened its membership to
women with Marjorie McCarty became the first female
member of the Peru Lions Club, starting a proud tradition of
shared contributions by all. Marge would later become the
first female district governor for the Northern District 20W.
Peru Lions Club meets twice a month to give members
opportunity to develop ideas by which we can best
implement our motto, which is "We Serve".
Members may become active through a variety of roles that
range from leadership initiatives to hands-on service throughout
our community and the surrounding area.
Service to our Community
The primary goal of Peru Lions is to aid the blind and
visually impaired. The club also contributes to area
service organizations and projects that assist others.
